Going Places

26 March – 18 May 2014, The Arts House, Singapore

exhibition going places

The exhibition Going Places celebrates The Arts House's 10th anniversary. In a mix media installation of contemporary photography, archival film and photography from Singapore's National Archives and spoken word recordings of Singapore's finest contemporary poets, the exhibition explores the evolution of Singapore's cityscape.

The poems cover various locations, spanning the urban, natural and architectural typologies in Singapore. These include central Singapore, famous attractions, lost buildings and even the HDB heartlands. This poetic approach to the individual experiences of the writers will draw on original audio-visual portraits of Singapore, highlighting its rich literary history and artistic diversity.

Occupying the almost 200-year-old building that was Singapore's first Parliament House, The Arts House since its opening in 2004 has been playing an active role in the Singapore arts and creative scene. As a centre for writing, writers and ideas, The Arts House supports and presents programmes and festivals that aim to develop and promote literary arts in Singapore.

Lowave Exhibitions

Lowave has curated and produced exhibitions since 2008. Often inspired by our research projects and publications, these projects have been realised in close collaboration with international exhibition spaces. Some, such as Resistance[s] at the 3rd Triennial of Guangzhou, responded to invitations from major art events, others, more intimate, paid tribute to Lowave's unique art identity.
